Cash outlook hinges on cuts
The board approved $208 million in budget revisions. The district's own finance chief told trustees the year-end cash balance could fall to about $1.7 million if only 40% of the planned cuts actually happen.

After reviewing the district's revised budget, the head of the state's Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team said district staff had counted a one-time block grant and withheld state funding as if they'll recur every year. The district says the plan keeps it funded for two years — as long as the county doesn't overrule it again.
